In order to discuss and debate the recent developments in the region, the circumstances of the recent war, and the dangerous military escalation in Lebanon, a closed session was held at the Riwaq Center for Public Policy entitled (Where is the region heading?). The session was attended by a group of figures, academic and political elites, directors of research centers, and specialists and researchers in regional and military affairs.
The attendees discussed the circumstances of the ongoing war in Lebanon and Palestine, waged by the Zionist entity, and the worsening humanitarian crises it has caused, as well as the political, economic and military repercussions that have affected many countries in the Middle East. The attendees focused on Iraq's position on the war and its impact on its national security.
In addition to its political, economic and humanitarian support for Lebanon and Palestine, a number of scenarios were discussed that could include further military escalation and the expansion of the war, whether it extends to Iraq, or de-escalation and the beginning of a new phase of political, security and military arrangements, as well as visions of the timeframe for the continuation of this war.
