With the attendance of a significant academic, political and cultural figure, and in cooperation between the Baghdad Center for Public Policy and the Rudaw Center for Studies, as well as other research centers, the Erbil-Najaf Conference to Promote Dialogue and Understanding was launched in Najaf.
The second edition of the forum discussed a number of important pivotal issues revolving around the Kurdish-Shiite relationship, through extensive topics including: Kurdish-Shiite relations, lessons learned from alliances and rivalries throughout history, and mutual expectations between the Kurdistan Region and the Shiite authority; politics and what lies behind it, and the effects of internal Kurdish and Shiite conflicts on the relationship between Baghdad and Erbil.
In a speech delivered at the closing ceremony of the conference, the head of REWAQ Baghdad Center, Mr. Abbas Al-Anbouri, explained that its convening at this stage reflects the utmost need for its existence, considering that the pattern of Kurdish-Shiite relations should not remain limited to a closed political atmosphere.
