In the presence of an elite group of researchers, academics, businessmen, and representatives of some telecommunications companies, Rewaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy held a panel discussion on “The Shift Towards Electronic Financial Transactions to Keep Up with Contemporary Technological Developments, Reality and Future Prospects,” in which the Director General of the Payments Department at the Central Bank of Iraq, Ms. Duha Abdul Karim, who She pointed out that the economic systems in some countries of the world, including Iraq, have suffered greatly from the crisis of slowness and lack of confidence in banking financial transactions and the banking system in general. Therefore, it has become necessary to reconsider the traditional role of banks, which is based on accepting deposits and granting credit, and looking forward to providing various banking and financial services on a regular basis. In a way that is compatible with the increasing growth of modern means of communication, and achieving great benefit that contributes to the involvement of various beneficiary banking entities and intermediaries, governmental or private, of the available financial banking services, which the Central Bank intends to automate electronically and completely in the near future.
